Sample sizes explained
Last updated: October 12, 2026
A product sample size is the amount in a trial unit, usually listed in millilitres (ml) or grams (g), plus a format such as sachet, vial, mini or jar.
Sample listings can be vague: “mini”, “deluxe”, “trial”. The number that matters is the amount (ml or g) and roughly how many uses you get. This guide explains the common formats, what each one is good for, and how Luòri shows sizes on every listing.
Common sample formats
Sachets and foil packets usually hold 1–3 ml or g: enough for one to three uses. Good for checking texture and scent, not for judging results.
Vials (including fragrance vials) usually hold 1–2 ml. For perfume that is a lot of sprays, so you can wear a scent for several days.
Minis and deluxe samples are small versions of the real packaging, often 5–15 ml or g. They usually last one to three weeks of daily use, which is long enough to notice how your skin or hair responds.
Travel sizes are often 30–100 ml and are closer to a small product than a sample.
How many uses do you need?
For scent, colour and texture, one or two uses is often enough.
For skincare such as serums, moisturisers and treatments, most people want at least one to two weeks of daily use before deciding. A deluxe or mini size is usually the better trial.
For haircare, think in washes: a 10 ml oil or 30 ml shampoo sample covers only a few washes, depending on hair length.
How Luòri lists sizes
Every Luòri listing shows the sample amount, unit and format (for example “10ml mini”), and where the brand provides it, an approximate number of uses.
The full-size product and its price are shown next to the sample so you can compare value. If the brand offers a full-size credit, the listing shows the credit amount.
Brands pack and ship their own samples. Shipping & handling, card processing and any sales tax are shown at checkout before you pay.
Tips for judging a sample fairly
Patch test new skincare first and introduce one new product at a time, so you know what is working.
Use the sample the way you would use the full size: same time of day, same routine.
Write down the date you started. With a mini, you can usually tell within a couple of weeks whether to buy full size.
Who this is not for
This guide is not about free sample programs or giveaways. Luòri samples are paid, and the brand ships them.
FAQ
- What is a deluxe sample?
- A deluxe sample is a small version of the real product, usually in its own mini packaging and often 5–15 ml or g. It is larger than a sachet or vial.
- How many uses are in a 10 ml sample?
- It depends on the product. A 10 ml serum used a few drops at a time can last two to four weeks; a 10 ml cleanser may last about a week.
- Are samples the same formula as full size?
- They should be. On Luòri, listings describe what is included, and brands disclose if a sample is repackaged from a larger unit.
